Imogen Heap Boxset Part2

Here's some sketches I was working on in class the other day:

I was copying some vintage patterns first to get a basic idea of how they all generally looked.

Then, I went on to make my own vintage-looking.. something. I figured I could use the top 2 images to form some kind of pattern, so I took a picture of it (I know, I was too lazy to actually scan it in..) to mock something up in Photoshop.

...And this is the end result of the pattern. Not too bad? A lot of multiply layers and duplication/mirroring. But it's not really the style I was exactly going for, so :/ Yeah.

Imogen Heap Boxset

So I'm doing Imogen Heap for my boxset project.. this will contain three of her solo albums: iMegaphone, Speak for Yourself, and Ellipse. For the cover, I was thinking about creating some kind of type and pattern and integrating it together to form the whole piece--something similar to Marian Bantjes' works, particularly this one.

Photobucket

I've been wanting to make an ambigram for the longest time, so I took this opportunity to create my own. I still have to stuff to fix, but this is basically how it's going to look.

I'd like to incorporate illustrations and photographs along with some kind of info-graphics into my design, but I'm not exactly sure in what direction I should proceed my design in yet. I thought that the vintage poster look sounded pretty cool, but I dunno--there's so much options to choose from.
